SUGGESTED USES: Prevention of rust & corrosion
VEHICLE TYPE: Epoxy Resin, Polyamide Resin, Coal Tar Pitch
SOLVENT TYPE: Xylene
VOC: 175 grams / liter
SOLIDS BY VOLUME: 80% (reacted)
WEIGHT PER GALLON: 11 lbs. per gallon
RECOMMENDED DRY FILM: 10.0 mils
COVERAGE: Theoretical coverage of 10 mils dry is 128 square feet per gallon. Material losses during mixing and application will vary and must be taken into consideration.
POT LIFE: 75 degrees F - 3-4 hours, lower at higher temperatures
AVERAGE DRY TIME 75°F: Dries to touch in 5-6 hours. Can recoat in 5 hours to 20 hours. Allow 5 hours minimum before recoating with antifouling.
RECOMMENDED REDUCER: Reduce with 974 Reducer as needed for
proper flow and performance, 10% maximum.
RECOMMENDED CLEAN UP: 974 Reducer or Xylene
RECOMMENDED FINISH: Ablative or Epoxy Hard antifoulings
SURFACE PREPARATION: BARE FIBERGLASS: Degrease by wiping with a rag soaked in 973 Dewaxer. Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue. Wipe with 973 Dewaxer.
Over Coal Tar Epoxy: Abrade surface by sweep blast or 36 grit sanding.
BARE METAL: Surface should be blasted to bright metal. Remove all blast or sanding residue using a clean air line and sweeping with a clean brush or broom. Vacuum clean for best results. Apply primer within 1 hour of metal preparation. If blasting is not possible (or if more than 2 hours has passed since blasting) sand or grind with coarse 36-60 grit discs. Remove sanding dust.
APPLICATION: Final Dry Thickness of 20 mils. This usually takes 2 coats, but the amount of paint is more important than the number of coats.
